συμπαθεῖς εἰσιν οἱ κατ’ ἴσον ἀπέχοντες κατ’ ἐπιθεώρησιν ἀλλήλων σύμφωνοι· ἀσυμπαθεῖς δὲ οἱ κατὰ μηδένα τρόπον ἐπιθεωροῦντες ἀλλήλους· ὅπερ γίνεται ἐκ τῆς τῶν ἀσυνδέτων ζῳδίων ἀποστροφίας· ἔστιν δὲ ἀσύνδετα τὰ παρ’ ἑκάτερα καὶ τὰ διὰ ϛʹ καὶ ηʹ ζῳδίων ἀριθμούμενα

‘Sympathetic (planets) are those that are an equal distance apart and harmonious in their aspect with each other, and unsympathetic are those that are not in any kind of aspect with each other, which results from the aversion of unconnected zodiac signs. Unconnected (zodiac signs) are those that are counted one after another and six and eight apart.’
