נִלְאֵ֖ית בְּרֹ֣ב עֲצָתָ֑יִךְ יַעַמְדוּ־נָ֨א וְיוֹשִׁיעֻ֜ךְ (הברו) [הֹבְרֵ֣י] שָׁמַ֗יִם הַחֹזִים֙ בַּכּ֣וֹכָבִ֔ים מֽוֹדִעִים֙ לֶחֳדָשִׁ֔ים מֵאֲשֶׁ֥ר יָבֹ֖אוּ עָלָֽיִךְ׃
nilʾêt̲ bərōb̲ ʿăṣāt̲āyik̲ yaʿamd̲û-nāʾ wəyôšîʿuk̲ (hb̲rw) [hōb̲ərê] šāmayim haḥōzîm bakkôk̲āb̲îm môd̲iʿîm leḥŏd̲āšîm mēʾăšer yāb̲ōʾû ʿālāyik̲.
‘You are helpless, despite all your art. Let them stand up and help you now, The scanners of heaven, the star-gazers, Who announce, month by month, Whatever will come upon you.’
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֜ד אֶל־יְהוֹנָתָ֗ן הִֽנֵּה־חֹ֙דֶשׁ֙ מָחָ֔ר וְאָנֹכִ֛י יָשֹׁב־אֵשֵׁ֥ב עִם־הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לֶאֱכ֑וֹל וְשִׁלַּחְתַּ֙נִי֙ וְנִסְתַּרְתִּ֣י בַשָּׂדֶ֔ה עַ֖ד הָעֶ֥רֶב הַשְּׁלִשִֽׁית׃
wayyōʾmer dāwid̲ ʾel-yəhônāt̲ān hinnēh-ḥōd̲eš māḥār wəʾānōk̲î yāšōb̲-ʾēšēb̲ ʿim-hammelek̲ leʾĕk̲ôl wəšillaḥtanî wənistartî b̲aśśād̲eh ʿad̲ hāʿereb̲ haššəlišît̲.
‘David said to Jonathan, “Tomorrow is the new moon, and I am to sit with the king at the meal. Instead, let me go and I will hide in the countryside until the third evening.’
