Νότια δέ ἐστιν, ὅσα τοῦ τῶν ζῳδίων κύκλου πρὸς μεσημβρίαν κεῖται. Ἔστι δὲ τάδε· Ὠρίων καὶ Προκύων, Κύων, Λαγωός, Ἀργώ, Ὕδρος, Κρατήρ, Κόραξ, Κένταυρος, Θηρίον, ὃ κρατεῖ ὁ Κένταυρος, καὶ Θυρσόλογχος, ὃν κρατεῖ ὁ Κένταυρος καθ’ Ἵππαρχον, Θυμιαθήριον, Νότιος Ἰχθύς, Κῆτος, Ὕδωρ τὸ ἀπὸ τοῦ Ὑδροχόου, Ποταμὸς ὁ ἀπὸ τοῦ Ὠρίωνος, Νότιος Στέφανος, ὑπὸ δέ τινων Οὐρανίσκος προσαγορευόμενος, Κηρύκειον καθ’ Ἵππαρχον.

‘Southern (constellations) there are as many as lie to the south of the zodiac. ‘The bright star in the mouth of the Dog, which seems to cause the intensification of the heat, is called with the same name as the whole constellation, Dog.’
